Guadalupe Maravilla: Artist and Sound Healer
Whimsical sculptures or healing machines by Salvadoran American artist Guadalupe Maravilla(1976) are currently on view on the second floor in gallery 212. Maravilla’s work deals with themes of trauma and healing. Guadalupe Maravilla: Luz y Fuerza consists of two sculptures from MoMA’s collection Disease Thrower #5 and Circle Serpent, both from 2019, as well as new work from his studio. Luz y Fuerza is a performative installation with Healing Sound Baths events that took place until Omicron wave put them on pause.
